Around September 23, I had a feeling of uneasiness. I prayed for everyone I could think of, but the restlessness in my spirit would not go away. Finally, two days later I sat down at my computer and asked, “God, what is it You want me to do?”
I felt God nudge my spirit, “Make a book for Granola Bar Devotionals.”
I was stunned. I started this ministry in 2006 with a handful of women. It had grown into an online ministry, and a few years ago, I put it on pause to focus on my writing. How could I possibly find all these women again? Most of my core group had moved away from where I lived, and I haven’t contacted many of the online women in years.
I bowed my head and prayed, “God, compiling and editing this book is going to be huge feat. But I will do it if You are with me.”
Less than a month later, Granola Bar Devotionals was published. It is a stunning devotional anthology with over 40 writers and more than 90 stories of faith. All the proceeds go to my brother’s African Missions in Mombasa, Kenya–Go.Send.Join.us.
Each writer has donated her words to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to tend to the poor and suffering of our world. Who says writing at the computer can’t save lives? This book is also a memorial for one of my original writers, Jeannie De La Garza, a woman who loved Jesus and now sits with Him at His feet.
I pray that this book blesses each reader. I know that God is fully in it, and His Spirit flows through every word. May the Good News of Jesus Christ echo off each page.
