Mosquitoes in the car while you’re driving down the highway is dangerous. These pesky insects are blood-sucking attackers, and an accurate metaphor for spiritual attack.
Spiritual attack is real.
Two weeks of Texas rain has left us with an army of mosquitoes recklessly attacking any warm blooded animal within buzz reach. They are huge and thirsty.
I got my three kids in the car and started the 20 minute drive to their school. Shouts of “I see one!” and “It’s on me!” echoed in my ear. Two times I looked down to swat one away, allowing my car to drift too close to the curb.
This must stop! I thought.
“Hold on guys,” I said and rolled down all four windows of my SUV.
“What are you doing, Mom?” my first born asked. “You’ll let more in!”
“Just watch,” I said. “The wind will push them out.”
A minute later I rolled back up the windows and the mosquitoes were gone.

So many times we are moving in God’s will and their are mosquitoes of attacks all around us. We can’t just stop what we are doing and focus on them because we are responsible for others. There are people in our vehicle.Instead of focusing on the attacks, however, if we would simply roll down everything--make ourselves completely vulnerable to God, the Wind of His Presence will rush in and fight for us. It may seem contradictory to make yourself vulnerable when blood-sucking haters are all around you; but in fact, it allows God the freedom to deal with them. Don’t shelter up. Don’t shut down. When you are attacked, open up and let the Holy Spirit rush in. He will fight for you. He will redeem you. He will drive those mosquitoes out of your destiny.
Let God in. Trust Him. Keep driving and enjoy the ride.
“For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory” (Deuteronomy 20.4 NIV).
Question: What spiritual attack are you enduring today? How can you let the Holy Spirit flood into that situation?
