God wants to talk to you
“Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven’” (Matthew 16.17 NIV).
Today we have the Holy Spirit in us to reveal God’s truth to us each day. We can listen to sermons, read books and watch seminars that encourage us, but we are truly blessed when we listen to what the Father in Heaven wants to say to us directly. Peter most likely watched Jesus pray to the Father. He saw as Jesus heard from God directly. And Peter, too, began to listen. And, of course, the Father always wants to reveal more about His Son, Jesus. Jesus asked His disciples what other were saying about Him. Then He asked His disciples what they themselves thought of Him. This is when Peter confidently declared what he had heard from God: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” This was a very bold statement—one that would eventually cost Peter his life—but this truth had been revealed to him by God Himself. The insights we hear directly from God will change us and our lives. Click To TweetIt is what God reveals into our spirit that causes us to give up everything in order to pursue the promises He has planted in our hearts. Motivation and positivity can only move us so far, but one single revelation from God can move mountains and change destinies. This is why we must seek God every day, keeping our hearts attentive to His presence and our hears attentive to His words. When we have lost all courage, all energy and all strength to continue our walk of faith, we can sit still, wait and listen for God to speak to us again.”
“But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets” (1 Corinthians 2.10 NLT).
