Sometimes you have to splurge and buy Teuscher Champagne truffles on Rodeo Drive for yourself and your twin. Her nine hour surgery was in two days, and her road to recovery would be painful. I would be by her side for three straight days caring for her every need. But that was not this day. Today we window shopped down Rodeo Drive, ate a fancy dinner and capped off the night with amazing Swiss chocolates. The chocolates were so good that I went back and bought some for Dr. Nassif as a gift for doing such an amazing job on my sister’s nose!
All this was made possible by Daniel, my high school sweet heart and my husband of 18 years. He stayed home with our three children, so I could enjoy a few special days with my sister before her surgery. My husband gave me free reign to spoil her on Rodeo Drive, so she could feel loved after being rejected by her husband of 14 years. She was in the thick of getting a divorce because her husband decided to love another woman. I’ve seen the process of rejection and divorce many times, but never as up-close and personal as when my twin went through it. I can honestly say that divorce is one of the most emotionally and spiritually painful things a person and family can go through.
I couldn’t stop the divorce. I couldn’t change her husband’s mind. But I could love on my sister, and my husband could put his arm of protection and provision around her. The road to her divorce recovery would be long and painful, but at least she knew that there were people in her life that loved and supported her, and who would never reject her.
