Here is an x-ray image of my twin’s reconstructed hip. It still causes her pain today, and she has a two-foot scar running up the side of her leg. BUT! She is so grateful to be alive and following God onto the amazing path He has her on!
Most God stories begin with desperation. We find ourselves in need of a miracle. We cry out to God for His intervention. That’s exactly what happened when I filled out my twin sister’s application to Botched. I had never watched one episode prior to that moment.
My twin’s nose was damaged in a near-death car accident in 2005. The doctors saved her life and reconstructed her hip, but over the years her nose and began to twist–internally and externally. She had trouble breathing and her nose looked like a “hockey stick.” Christina had surgery through a ENT, which made her nose worse.
Her husband of 14 years was oversees for the military and left her for another woman. My sister cried out to me because her life was falling apart and on top of all the devastation, her nose was twisted. She stopped looking in the mirror. She stopped feeling pretty. I had to help my twin!
I wrote out her story for the Botched application, and prayed about sending my words into the show. God gave me a word of confirmation that her nose would be fixed by the Botched doctors, and from that moment on, my faith was set. Despite the fact it took about 9 months for her to know for sure that she would get the surgery, my faith was unwavering. God had given me His word, and I knew His promise to fix her nose was “yes” in Christ (2 Corinthians 1.20). God used Dr. Paul Nassif to heal my twin’s nose.
I wrote a book about how we landed on the the Season 5 Premiere of Botched called Following God Across the Page. You can enter to win a signed copy of book on the link below. I’ve also added my impromptu speech just before the 5 Season Premier of Botched Party at my house! Thank you, Angie, for recording my words!
