“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1.20 NIV).
Although we all fall short of God’s glory, through Jesus Christ, we are redeemed. Without Jesus, nothing we do can be pleasing to God. Jesus actually reconciles or perfects all of our actions done in obedience to God. Even though our intentions are pure and we are faithful to God’s will, we will never in our own strength please God and deserve His abundant blessings. We achieve God’s promises simply by believing God at His Word and acting in that belief, knowing that Jesus’ Finished Work on the Cross makes all of our efforts perfect in God’s eyes. That is why our promises are sure in Christ alone. Nothing we can do or say can ever be good enough to earn God’s favor and grace in our lives, but we are imparted God’s best because of His great love for us—a love demonstrated through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. So when God gives us a promise that we do not deserve, we can say “amen,” trusting that Jesus has fulfilled all the requirements on our behalf. We only need to claim those promises by faith and display that faith in our words, attitudes and actions!
”Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11.24 NIV).
