Do Not Understand
“Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct—as irrational animals do—will destroy them” (Jude 1.10 NIV).
Faith is one of those mysteries of life that we will never fully understand, so we must choose to believe what our minds cannot grasp. Our human intellect is too limited to comprehend and categorize the greatness of God and the wisdom of His plan on earth and heaven. God beautifully illustrates His spiritual truths in His Word, the Bible, with metaphors and images that we can seek to perceive and understand; yet we will never have the complete view of God until we see Him face-to-face in heaven. During our earthly lives, we can believe what we do not understand, for we know that our faith pleases God. People who choose not to believe because they cannot fit the mysteries of God and His plan into their short-sighted viewpoints may try to destroy the very things set in place to save them. Since faith and salvation don’t make sense in the natural, they will walk to their deaths without having a relationship with God—not because God couldn’t save them, but because they would not grasp onto faith in order to be saved. Not only do they destroy their own lives, but they also try to destroy the faith in the lives of others. They aggressively go after anything that does not fit into their preconceived notions of reality, never realizing there is more to life than what they can experience with their five senses. This earth and our lives are only a small glimpse of the supernatural world that we are actually a part of and will one day enjoy.
“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him” (Hebrews 11.6 NLT).
