Been Brought Near
“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” (Ephesians 2.13 NKJV).
The Bible is filled with so many promises that it would take more than a lifetime to find and apply every single one. But we can start today finding and claiming these promises. One of the most profound promises is that we have been reconciled back to God. Reconciled is a religious word that simply means “been brought near.” We were separated from God in our sinful state, but through Jesus Christ we have “been brought near” Him again. In fact, the Bible says that we are in Jesus and Jesus is in the Father. So we are literally one with the Father through Jesus Christ. What a promise! No matter how ugly our situation or how horrible we feel, God is with us. He will never forsake us (Deuteronomy 31.6). We don’t have to be discouraged or fearful because we have the God of the universe right by our side. He has the whole world in His hands, and our problem is no match for His great might. He will guide us in truth, peace and love, so we don’t have to worry. We have “been brought near” to a God who saves! We have nothing to fear!
“On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you” (John 14.20 NIV).
