“And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand” (Mark 3.25 NKJV).
If peace is God’s plan for the Body of Christ, then division is Satan’s main agenda. He does not want God’s people to be united, because only through the hum of harmony can the Church be a light to a dark world. Satan wants to divide not only the Church—he wants to divide peoples, nations, cities, families and marriages. Satan doesn’t care what he uses to pull us a part. He will divide God’s people, throwing any arrow he can get his wryly hands on to create cuts of division. When we feel like a division is occurring in our lives—whether be in our church, in our family, in our marriage or in our nation—we must stop and focus on what is really causing the discord. Most likely the division is a tactic of Satan. We have to be able to look at the situation through God’s eyes and see what is really going on. Many times it’s not just about hurt feelings and irreconcilable difference—there is a spiritual battle being waged against us, and we let Satan win when we fall into self-preservation mode. God will fight for us. He will ensure that our situation is redeemed, but our main focus should be preventing what’s been divinely united from being torn to pieces. We all have differences, but the bond that holds us all together is Jesus and His sacrifice for us because we have all fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3.23). Until we stop allowing ourselves to be divided, we will never stand securely as a beacon of hope to a lost world.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5.14 NIV).
