The Beauty of Breaking
“On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: ‘Fear not, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak’” (Zephaniah 3.16 ESV).
All of us will go through a time of “tearing down.” This is nothing new. When bodybuilding, people must actually tear their muscles in order for them to grow back bigger and stronger. God must tear us down, so we can grow bigger and stronger in Him. But it is hard not to be discouraged. It is difficult not to look around and feel defeated and weak. But God says loudly to each of us, “Let not your hands grow weak!” Yes, we are tired. Yes, we have been through a breaking season, but our stories will not end there. God will restore us when we rest in Him. He will rebuild us if we let Him. God is about to bless what He has broken and serve His presence to the world through our lives. God wants to multiply His glory in and through His People. He can only do this when we see our absolute need for Him, and we allow Him to shine through our brokeneness.
“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs” (Matthew 5.3 NLT).
