You can feel those moments when God is calling you to a significant opportunity of sacrifice. There’s usually a huge internal struggle because a war that you can’t see is being fought for your destiny (Ephesians 6.10-20). The Enemy has been on this earth a long time, and he has dealt with many people; he knows what it takes to stop you from walking into God’s promises (1 Peter 5.8).
You are faced with a choice: You can sow that seed of faith or a hide it away out of fear, indifference or selfishness.
Jesus experienced this struggle before He sowed the seed of His sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. His internal battle was great: “Then he [Jesus] said to them, ‘My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me’” (Matthew 26.38 NIV).
Even though Jesus’ sole purpose was to be our redeemer, He begged God to take that portion of His destiny away: “Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, ‘My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will’” (Matthew 26.29 NIV). If Jesus resisted fulfilling His purpose, you better believe you will too.
But what if you sow that seed of faith? What if you deny the will of your flesh and follow God’s leading into sacrifice? What happens when you are done? Do you see the fruit right away? Do you experience the resurrection of life that God has promised you immediately? Do you dance to a victory song through the streets of town only moments after the seed has been planted?
Jesus died on the cross for our sins on a Friday, but He didn’t resurrect in all His glory until Sunday. So what was happening on Saturday?
Saturday is imperative to a faith seed that has been sown. Once a seed is planted, it must die before new life begins to grow. This transference of life takes time, especially if the faith seed is a big one. You might not see anything happening, and you may tempted to lose hope or give up. But don’t. Your sacrifice is not wasted! Your seed will be resurrected!
Trust that God will fulfill His promises to you. Believe that “new life” is springing up in the spiritual realm and will manifest before your eyes soon. Don’t lose courage, don’t lose heart. Keep holding onto your faith that God will come through for you! And when you’re surrounded by God’s bountiful harvest, sow more seeds of faith and share with everyone what He has done!
Timing is so important! If you are going to be successful in dance, you must be able to respond to rhythm and timing. It’s the same in the Spirit. People who don’t understand God’s timing can become spiritually spastic, trying to make the right things happen at the wrong time. They don’t get His rhythm – and everyone can tell they are out of step. They birth things prematurely, threatening the very lives of their God-given dreams. – T. D. Jakes (ref)
