God Shaped Faith
“I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit” (Leviticus 26.4 NIV).
Wouldn’t it be great if we knew when God’s season of rain would come? Many people would give up once they saw how long it would take, unable to overcome the idea of waiting so many years. The rest of us–after getting over our shock–would resolutely mark our calendars and prepare for the wait. With our “breakthrough” date set in stone, we would look forward to it, daydream about it and make plans for it. The date would become our heart’s obsession, and we would pour our energy, resources and time into preparing our land (purpose) for it. We would carefully organize and execute our steps until the day the rain spilled down from heaven, blessing all of our hard work. There would be no need for faith, no need for hope and no need to trust God. However, we serve a God who has a divine agenda filled with unseen dates; and He has given us power in our words to speak by faith the hope we are trusting Him for. The more we speak by faith—with no cloud in sight—the more we show our belief in our God. If God has promised you rain, do not doubt it for a second. If the air is hot and dry and your land is parched and thirsty, claim God’s promises even louder. Let everyone around you hear the hope you have in Him; so that when the downpour is unleashed, they will see our God and give Him all the glory.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11.1 NKJV).
