“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand” (John 10.28-29 NLT).
When my husband saw me after I came home from my week long MMA training camp, he was not happy. I was bruised, tired and confused. I left my camp a day early because, quite frankly, I was scared. Training for a fight was on the opposite side of normal for me, and I really questioned whether it was God’s will. After I let go of my defenses, I knew in my spirit that God had called me into this strange world for a brief time; however, my husband had to go through his own period of grappling for understanding. The head of the production company contacted us, and my husband told him that I would no longer be training. I didn’t argue with my husband because I know that he loves me and he is concerned for my safety. If God wanted me to train, He would have to change my husband’s mind. My husband is a Holy Spirit led man, and I trusted that he would do whatever God called him to do. A couple of days later, my husband searched through Bible and came to the part where Paul sent Onesimus back to his master (Philemon 1.25). He felt God telling him to send me back to my training. So I continued training and gathered more bruises and injuries, but God gave us peace that we were doing His will. Although it is hard to send the people we hold dear into situations that are different, scary or even dangerous; we can trust that God will continue His sovereign will in their lives. Nothing or no one can snatch their spirits from God’s hands once they have asked Jesus into their hearts and lives, and that truth should fill us with joy.
God, I’m determined to trust You with the lives of those I love. I won’t let fear stop me from allowing them to fulfill the purposes that You have for them. I know that You have never promised that we wouldn’t experience hard times and pain, but You have promised us eternity with You in heaven; and no one can take that away from us. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
