“For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4.6 NLT).
When we become Christians, we are washed in the Blood of Jesus, meaning our sins are cleansed by the redeeming essence of our God who became flesh in order to save and reconcile us back to Him. Every part of us is supernaturally clean, and the Holy Spirit is working that truth into every natural nook and cranny of our lives. However, as we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will encounter the heartache of this world. We are the hands and feet of Jesus, and in us He wants to reach the broken of this world. We will see and experience darkness, bringing light to those who are lost. Just like the disciples, our feet will become dirty from following Jesus downs paths to the needy, and only He can refresh us and purify our hearts, minds and souls. That is why we must go to Him. He gives us grace to see, hear and experience difficult things, but He is always there wiping away the grime and debris from our life of obedience to Him.
“Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean…” (John 13.10 NIV).
