Blown and Tossed
“But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind” (James 1.6 NIV).
God gives us some amazing promises and depending on our circumstances, our faith may go up and down. If we are struggling with discouragement and disbelief, the Bible says that we are like “a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” Instead of allowing the “winds” of circumstance dictate our belief, we must always rely on God’s Word. If God has made us a promise, we should never doubt ourselves because of our circumstances. God is Lord over all, and He far surpasses our authority and the authority of this world. If He says it will happen, it doesn’t matter if the thing we are believing for has died. He will resurrect it in His power and in His timing! We must never be “double-minded” when God has a call on our lives. It may take years and our Promise Land may look like a wilderness, but He will fulfill His promises. He can make streams form in the desert, and He can bring the dead back to life. There is nothing impossible for God to accomplish. God will delay His promise until we are secure in Him without any doubt in our mind that He can accomplish what He said He would do.
“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Numbers 23.19 NLT).
