“But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone” (Hebrews 2.9 NIV).
How could Jesus who is God be made lower than His own creation? Jesus loves us so much that He willingly left His place as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, so we could be free from the slavery and the death of sin (Romans 8.17). If we are co-heirs with Christ, we are also kings and queens under the authority of the King of the Universe. And He gives us the authority to unleash God’s glory on earth. We no longer have to taste spiritual death, which is an existence separated from God. We may experience physical death, but truly it is like a birth into our eternal, heavenly lives. Satan was able to steal our authority for a time because of our sin, but Jesus came to claim back again. Today, not only do we not have to taste spiritual death, we also have the power to make a difference in this world. We can claim God’s will on earth and watch it unfold in our heavenly destinies (Matthew 18.18). If we could only see and believe the authority we have been given through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we would be an unstoppable force, changing lives by binding sin and death and unleashing grace and life!
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you” (Luke 10.19 NIV).
