The Value of Faith
“These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed” (1 Peter 1.7 NIV).
Trials will come, but they are not to be feared, disregarded or circumvented. They are essential for the purity of our faith, which will be the one thing that gives our lives glory and honor once we enter heaven. We won’t be recognized for our money, our fame or our position in life, but we will be applauded for the faith to which we clung, producing all kinds of good works for the Lord. Our faith not only guarantees salvation for our souls, but it also works that salvation into every part of our being. Faith is more valuable than gold. The world may bet its currency on the gold standard, but God establishes us with His gold standard of faith. God wants to refine our faith, and He will use the fires of the life to purify our belief in Him and His promises. We must never walk away from our faith, and our resilience is only possible if we keep our focus on God and His Kingdom. Trials may try to weakness us, push us around or even take us out, but we can stand strong, joyfully knowing that God is increasing the bank accounts of our faith. God will not see the mistakes we made in this life because of the cleansing Blood of Jesus, but He will see our awesome faith, surrounded by the good works that it birthed.
