“He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for you sake” (1 Peter 1.20 NIV).
The plan of redemption was enacted before God created the world on Creation Week. Our sin was no surprise to God. Much like a mother and father know that their children will one day sin, the blessing of children surpasses the difficulty in raising them. Parents give birth to children not because they want perfect individuals, but because they want a family to love. God is all love, and He wants to share His love with His creation. He knows we will fall short of His holy standard, so He devised a plan to both love and save us. This way He could be our Heavenly Father even while we exist in our imperfect state. Our sin separates us from God, but God’s grace and our faith bring us back into relationship with Him once more through the Work of Jesus on the Cross. It’s a miraculous thought, knowing that Jesus Christ was there before the beginning of time, ready to redeem and reconcile us back to the Father. It is even more wonderful to know that we live in the New Testament era where the Blood of Jesus Christ has finished its work. We can now have a relationship with God, and His Holy Spirit can now live within us. We have been perfected and set apart for God’s good purposes. Jesus has been “revealed” to us in the “last days,” and we are loved by a Father who would die to save us.
“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” (Romans 5.8 NLT).
