On The Day
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (Philippians 1.6 NLT).
Our work for Jesus Christ does not end when we die. Actually, the seeds we plant and water won’t be fully ripe and harvested until Jesus’ return. This means that our work will continue beyond our single lifetime on earth. We won’t fully comprehend the entirety of our obedience until all the earth has entered into heaven before the glory of God. Usually we won’t see the bigger picture of how God is using our seemingly tiny steps of faith. A single word of encouragement to a downtrodden soul may appear small to us, but it may have huge ramifications throughout time. Our words and actions guided by the Holy Spirit are like tools that God uses to shape His Kingdom on earth and bring it into fruition. When we get stuck on seeing immediate and big results, we may miss opportunities that look insignificant, yet play an important role in something beyond our comprehension. Many people forgo God’s supernatural work in their lives because it looks trivial in the natural. But we must never underestimate God’s will and plan. A small act of obedience given to God can be powerful enough to change the world.
“Plant what is right and good for yourselves. Gather the fruit of lasting love. Break up your ground that has not been plowed. For it is time to look for the Lord, until He comes and pours His saving power on you” (Hosea 10.12 NLV).
