Ready or Not
“The book of genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham” (Matthew 1.1 NKJV).
Satan had 42 generations from the time Abraham was given the promise to be the father of many nations to the time Jesus Christ was born to cloud Jesus’ kingly lineage. By the time Jesus arrived in this world, the promise of a Messiah was no longer anticipated by God’s people. In fact, three wise men from other nations were the only ones mentioned who actually did their research and were prepared for the coming of the King. God’s promises for our lives do seem to tarry sometimes, but the worst thing we can do is lose hope and get sidetracked. The promise is not late. In fact, it will be right on time, but we need to be ready when it arrives or we will miss the divine intervention of God in our lives. Satan will try to get us off course, but God is always rooting for us. He wants to display His glory in our lives. He wants to stand up in the middle of our longing and say, “It’s time!” We must cling onto belief even when the way is clouded and time seems to be running out. God will provide in His abundance if we wait on Him.
“God gave the promises to Abraham and his child. And notice that the Scripture doesn’t say “to his children,” as if it meant many descendants. Rather, it says “to his child”–and that, of course, means Christ” (Galatians 3.16 NLT).
