Presence of the Lord
“This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear” (Haggai 2.5 NIV).
We worry about so many external things when working for the Lord—money, connections, time, talents, presentation, numbers, etc.—yet, our primary focus should always be the presence of the Lord. If the presence of the Lord is not the central theme of all we do, we waste what little resources we do have. Yes, it does take many necessary external things to achieve the will of God on earth, but who is the Creator and Owner of every single thing in existence? The Lord! All the silver and the gold on earth belong ultimately to God. We get anxious when we get caught up in the numbers. We can be aware of our need and of what is going on around us, but our eyes must be steadfastly fixed on the Lord. If we have asked God to come into our situation, we don’t have to fear. When the presence of the Lord is with us, we have everything we need to make our efforts pleasing and profitable to Him!
“’The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the LORD Almighty” (Haggai 2.8 NIV).
