“In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever” (Daniel 2.44 NIV).
The New Testament goes into detail about the Kingdom of God or Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus successfully established His Eternal Kingdom in this life by dying for the sins of humanity and reconciling God’s perfect plan on earth through a system of grace and faith (Ephesians 2.8). Two thousand years ago, John the Baptist was the voice crying out from the wilderness, preparing us for Jesus’ ministry: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near” (Matthew 3.2). When the religious leaders during the time of Jesus asked Him when the Kingdom of Heaven would arrive, Jesus answered that this eternal kingdom was already with them (Luke 17.20-21). Daniel prophesied about this Kingdom hundreds of years before Jesus walked this earth. God’s children wanted a savior to come in strength and power to force the world under his rule. However, Jesus came lowly and meek, living a perfect life and receiving all who would freely come to Him (Matthew 11.29 & Isaiah 53.2-3). This earth, this life is merely a shadow of an amazing Eternal Kingdom that God has created for His people, but our only chance in the door is Jesus Christ. He is the gate, the key, the way, the light (John 10.9). None of us can get to a Holy God without the righteousness of Jesus Christ. No matter how good enough we think we are, we will always fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3.23). God has created an eternal life with Him, but only when we accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ will we be able to be with God for eternity in heaven.
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'” (John 14.6 NIV).
