Against All Odds
“When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God” (Nehemiah 6.16 NIV).
Against all odds the Israelites finally finished building a wall around Jerusalem. Even though God’s people sacrificed much and poured all their energy, strength and resources into the work; there was no doubt that God had supernaturally intervened. All the nations surrounding the city were afraid because they realized a supernatural presence was involved. Today, even when Christians pour all of their strength, energy and resources into a promise, there will still be great lack, especially if the promise is big. God knows this and purposefully orchestrates our lack, so He can come through for us in a supernatural way. When God pours His abundance, favor and blessing into our promise, there will be no doubt of His mighty existence in our lives. God will claim the glory and the people surrounding us will have a fresh and undeniable sense of His presence reigning on this earth. Only God can do the impossible, but we must believe in our lack and wait for Him to provide abundantly.
“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice” (Psalm 97.1 NIV).
