“But King Solomon shall be blessed, and the throne of David shall be established before the LORD forever” (1 Kings 2.45 NKJV).
When King Solomon moves into his kingship, he must clean “house” in order to have one of the most prosperous reigns in all of history. Before God securely establishes Solomon as the anointed king over Israel, He gives Solomon time to rid his “Promise Land” of unresolved issues that would prevent King Solomon from achieving the full extent of his kingdom-vision. The process of ridding a God-anointed territory of sin is very important to the establishment of a calling or vision. Each hidden seed of sin left behind after a person is established with God’s authority can cause that person to stumble in the future. The Enemy loves it when we sweep things under the rug because he knows he can use that dirt to make us trip up in the future. For this reason, the young King Solomon was very wise not to declare that his royal line “shall be established before LORD forever” until after he pulled out every root of wickedness that he knew existed. We must be patient in God’s timing and not be too eager for God to establish our callings so quickly. If we withdrawal from the Holy Spirit’s leading and establish ourselves too soon, we may find that the “little” things we chose to ignore will become big things that seek to destroy our witness in Christ. Taking time to do some housecleaning before we set out to change the world for Christ will prove essential to achieving our purpose in the Kingdom of God!
“People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy” (Proverbs 28.13 NLT).
