Verse Meditation: Judges 20.8

One Voice

“And all the people arose as one man, saying, Not any of us will go to his tent, and none of us will return to his home” (Judges 20.8 AMP).

A man was traveling home with his wife. The day grew dark, and he needed to find a place for his family to stay overnight. The man’s servant suggested they lodge with foreigners, but the man was determined to stay in a town of his own people, the Israelites. Finally, an elderly man offered to house them, but certain people of Israel took the man’s wife during the night and raped her until she died. God’s Chosen People had slowly forsaken their God and were following the whims of their own lust and immorality. The man was so devastated by his loss that he sent a sign to the twelve tribes of Israel, and the Bible says that Israel people ”arose as one man.” The united nation sought God and obediently rooted out the sin that had spread in their people. There is power unity and chaos in discord, and that is why the Enemy would like nothing better than to divide God’s people, churches, ministries, families or any corporate voice testifying to the glory of God. When God’s people arise as one in obedience to the movement of the Holy Spirit, the force of their progress will be unstoppable. Our nation needs to hear a United Voice, declaring the Way to eternal life through Jesus Christ.

“Jesus said to him, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father except by (through) Me” (John 14.6 AMP).

It’s sad that I can see the way the enemy is working to divide God’s people and God’s church. It is overwhelming to me as I see church attendance dwindle especially in the ‘bible belt’ that we live in. People just don’t get it and I know that things are going to get worse.

thanks Alisa for sharing the truth of God’s Word!

Like a voice crying in the wilderness, It needs to be heard to be united.

Regardless of how overwhelmed we are from the horrible news stories in the media, and a culture that is in terrible disarray, we must also have Hope. A professor of mine in college put it this way: “I may not have the answer. But I know God does”.
