“And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea” (Exodus 14.27 NKJV).
Many times a life of faith means obediently walking right into a brick wall, trusting that God will supernaturally make a way through it. This is exactly what happened to the Israelites as they took their first steps out of slavery and into their destiny as the Chosen People of God. They obediently followed their God-appointed leader, Moses, into the vicinity between a rock and a hard place. They had the strongest military force behind them and a large sea in front of them. Needless to say, they were stuck with no way out. However, hopeless conditions–according to our natural standards–are God’s moving grounds for His miracles–according to His supernatural standards. Not only did God split the waters so the Israelites could walk through the center of the sea, He also used that same water to sweep away the army bent on destroying them. God used what seemed to be an obstacle as their ticket to freedom from tyranny and defeat. God has a purpose for each of us, and we will find that our paths will be riddled with obstacles. Instead of complaining about the obstacles, we need to pray that God uses them to wipe away our enemy and to move us forward into our destiny.
“Jesus looked at them intently and said, ‘Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible’” (Matthew 19.26 NLT).
