“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3.16 NLT).
One of the producers from the CMT Show was driving me to our next location, so I had a full ten minutes of her undivided attention. I asked her if I could give her my spiel about why I believe in Jesus. She shrugged and gave me the go-ahead, and I dove right into what the Holy Spirit had taught me. God created a perfect world with a perfect people; however, He gave us free-will. Free-will is a gift and a burden. It is a gift because it allows us to create good (within the perfection of God), but it is a burden because we can choose to create evil (within the absence of God). Everything that exists has its absence. God didn’t create evil; but because God exists, the absence of God (evil) exists. Our free-will separated us from our perfect God because we are no longer perfect. God knew we would use our free-will to sin, so He also created a redemption plan. He left His glory and sent Himself into this world in the form of a man named Jesus the Nazarene over two thousand years ago. Jesus lived a perfect life and died on the cross for our sins. By faith we wear Jesus’ perfection, and by grace He wears our imperfection. If we accept His sacrifice for our sins, we stand righteous before a perfect God. The Holy Spirit becomes our guide and the Bible becomes our map to achieving the purpose God created for us before time began. Once our bodies die, we can stand before God in eternity (heaven) because we are clothed in the righteousness of Jesus; and we will be rewarded for living a life of faith for Him. The gift of salvation is ours if we only ask.
God, when I die, I want to be able to live with You in heaven. As hard as I try, I will never be perfect enough to get to heaven by myself. I pray that You cover me with the righteousness of Jesus. I trust that He died for my sins, and I freely ask for forgiveness. Please give me the Holy Spirit, so I may start living my life according to Your beauty and purpose. Unlock the Living Power of the Bible when I read it, so I can apply its Truth to my life. I pray this by faith in Jesus’ name. Thank You for grace. Amen.
