“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities” (Luke 16.10 NLT).
I’ve exercised all my adult life. During my “baby making season,” I really had to stay focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. After each of my three babies, I had at least 30 pounds to lose. Trying to get back into pre-pregnancy shape is very difficult and takes lots of determination. It took me a full year of diligence to lose the weight once my husband and I brought each of our babies home. I stayed faithful at protecting my health because I know God calls us to be good stewards of our temples (bodies). If I hadn’t been faithful at working-out and watching my calories, I wouldn’t have been victorious in following God into the cage. I would have missed that entire segment of life that God had prepared for me. So many times we want to do great things for God, but we aren’t staying faithful to the everyday tasks He calls us to–but it is the little things that truly matter. Eventually the small decisions we make each day will add up, and we will find ourselves either ready or unprepared for God’s best in our lives.
God, help me to stay faithful to the seemingly insignificant details of life. I know that my daily decisions affect the power and purpose of my entire walk of faith. I trust that my day-to-day faithfulness will eventually add up to be something spectacular for Your Kingdom. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
