“Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions” (1 John 3.18 NLT).
My husband has lost twenty-five pounds since my fight. We’ve known each other since high school, and in college people called us the “work-out couple.” All my husband’s young life, he could eat pretty much anything he wanted without gaining weight. But as we aged into our thirties, his once athletic lifestyle took a backseat to his busy work schedule; and his eating habits stayed similar to that of a twenty year old’s. Although he wanted to lose weight and get into shape, he didn’t know how to get started again. I’ve tried to help and encourage him, but we must all individually take responsibility for our own health. Something happened, though, when he saw me train. He watched me push myself during my work-outs and spars, and he realized he had no more excuses. Ever since then, he has found his motivation to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Little did I know that God would use my crazy act of obedience in the cage to change the course of my husband’s life. His transformation is worth it all.
God, we don’t realize who is watching us when we are obediently following Your will. Our stretches of faith and our pushes of determination have purpose; and You will use them to influence the lives of many, especially those closest to us. Thank You for using my obedience to motivate my husband. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
