“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him” (2 Chronicles 16.9a AMP).
Making a reality TV show had its perks. Everywhere I went people were so obliging. Everyone would see the TV crew, and they do whatever it took to accommodate our needs. I like to think that I’m special, but the main reason people went above and beyond to help us was because of the show. I know that I personally worked harder and sacrificed more, believing that my actions and words may someday be displayed on national TV. I wanted to be the best wife, the best mom, the best Christian, the best athlete and the best person that I could be. But what happens when the camera crew is not there? Will I continue to pour all my energy into the seemingly insignificant details of life when no one is looking? Will I try to do my best and not compromise even if I don’t have an audience? As Christians, we must remember that God is always watching us. I know this truth may sound cliché, but His eyes see everything; and He is always looking on this earth for hearts that are pure for Him. God will show Himself strong on our behalf, but we need to do live every moment like we are in the presence of a King. He is the only audience that truly matters.
God, I don’t want to live a deceived life. I want my words and actions to be the same whether I’m in a crowd are in my home. If I allow myself to have double standards, I will never be pure for You. My deceptions will hurt me, those I love and my witness for Christ. Reveal to me any mismatched and impure circumstances in my life. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
