“So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing” (1 Thessalonians 5.11 NLT).
As the date of my fight got closer, I began to get more and more people involved. I would ask everyone to pray for me. I had two special pastors say prayers for me over the phone. My husband constantly had a word for me from His Bible reading. My twin sister fasted seven days for me. I arranged several of my family and friends to attend my fight. My family sent me text messages of affirmation. My Facebook and Twitter friends posted their encouragement. I told everyone who would listen about what God was doing in my life because I knew I couldn’t do it on my own. I exposed my inability and my weakness, believing that I needed a movement of God’s people to accomplish the task set before me. I know that I would have never persevered if it hadn’t been for the support of many. I rallied others to accomplish God’s will because I trusted His movement in my life. Our lives of faith will never accomplish all that God has for them unless we are willing to receive help from others; however, we must firmly believe in God’s plan for our lives if we want people to come along side us. Our confidence in God’s purpose must be obvious, and we need to trust that He works His perfect will in our imperfections.
God, I want to be willing to admit that I can’t do it all by myself, and I understand that I’ll only reach the goals that You set for me if I lean on others. Strengthen my faith in Your plan for my life, so that I can gather the support of many. I want to be a part of something bigger than myself, and I’m willing to humble myself to accomplish Your amazing will. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
